Stand for your Finances

Part 4

God never created us to be financial dams, which only store up wealth, but rather financial pipes through

 which His provision can flow.

Matthew 6:19 "Lay not up for your-selves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

1 John 3:17 "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?"

There is a saying that a herse never has a trailer behind it, as the dead can't take anything with them. We, however, have an opportunity to "send money ahead". According to Luke we can use money to make friends who will be eternally grateful to us.

Luke 16:9 "And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations."

God also wants to, through us, change the lives and circumstances of others on a financial level.

James 2:15 "If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16: And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?"

Jesus Himself said:

"…and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

We can only experience this blessing if we have something to give. The hungry, thirsty and naked world has need of physical things to restore it, and, as James says, they don't need nice spiritual words to fill their hungry stomachs or to warm them. In order to obtain these life necessities or provisions, which are then given out again to the needy, we require money. Only once we have given them the urgently needed provisions, will we then obtain an opportunity to give them of the eternal water too.

You can now say: "It is all good and well to hear, but the facts and realities are there. I don't have money to just give away, because I don't get a big salary."

How does it work then?

The most important thing to remember is that you are already blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. All the promises in His Word are for you.

Ephesians 1:3 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:"

2 Corinthians 1:20 "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

2 Peter 1:3 "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:"

Jesus, by becoming the curse, made it possible that the blessings of Abraham can be ours.

Galatians 3:14 "That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ"

Galatians 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

There is no doubt that Abraham was blessed extraordinarily in the financial area of his life.

Genesis 24:35 "And the Lord hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses."

It is not true that God decides who and when He is going to bless now, otherwise that would make Him a respecter of persons. No! God has already poured out His blessings on everyone through Christ Jesus, but it is true that not everyone experiences them. Only when I become one with Him through spiritual re-birth, and walk in the principles of His blessings, can I experience His blessings in my life.

The people on earth (children of God) are channels through whom God functions through His Spirit. The children of God are therefore only stewards of God's money/wealth here on earth. We must know these truths in the Word and, by faith, make it our portion. Let us look at a few scriptural principles regarding finances, and how they can help us to experience what God wants for us.
