Mixing Standards

Devotional done by Ess-Jee from

King Josiah became king of Judah at the age of eight, after the assassination of his father, King Amon, and reigned for thirty-one years,[7] from 641/640 to 610/609 BC.[8]At the start of Josiah's reign, the international situation was in flux: to the east, the Assyrian Empire was beginning to disintegrate, the Babylonian Empire had not yet risen to replace it, and Egypt to the west was still recovering from Assyrian rule. In this power vacuum, Jerusalem was able to govern itself without foreign intervention. In the eighteenth year of his rule, Josiah orders the High Priest Hilkiah to use the tax money which had been collected over the years to repair the neglect and damage suffered by the Temple of Solomon during the reigns of previous kings Amon and Manasseh. 2 Kings 22It was during this time that Hilkiah discovers the Book of the Law.

While Hilkiah is clearing the treasure room of the Temple [9] he finds a scroll described as "the book of the Law" [10] or as "the book of the law , by the hand of Moses" [9]. In 2 Kings 22:8 is identical to the phrase used in Joshua 1:8 and 8:34 to describe the sacred writings that Joshua had received from Moses.

Hilkiah brings this scroll to Josiah's attention, and the king orders it read to a crowd in Jerusalem . He is praised for this piety by the prophetess Huldah, who made the prophecy that all involved would die without having to see God's judgment on Judah for the sins they had committed in prior generations. [11] ; [12]Josiah encourages the exclusive worship of Yahweh and outlaws all other forms of worship.2 Kings 23 Josiah destroys the living quarters for male prostitutes, which were in the Temple,[13] and also destroys foreign pagan objects related to the worship of Baal, Ashterah (or Asherah), "and all the hosts of the heavens".

Josiah has living pagan priests executed and even has the bones of dead pagan priests exhumed from their graves and burned on their altars, which was viewed as an extreme act of desecration against the pagan deities by their adherents. (2 Kings 23:4-15) Josiah even destroys altars and images of pagan deities in cities of the tribes of Manasseh, Ephraim, "and Simeon, as far as Naphtali" (2 Chronicles 34:6-7), which were outside of his kingdom, Judah. Josiah also reinstitutes the Passover celebrations and returns the Ark of the Covenant to the Temple.[15]

Why do the world we live in nowadays seems to  need another King Josiah.?  Let me explain. From the beginning God placed a standard for us , He wanted us to keep , but because of our self-righteousness and selfishness  and justifications we lowered Gods standard over the years and now our Christianity is at a place with mix standards, Gods truths are mixed up with satans lies and our own justifications.

Many Christians use Jesus cross to justify there actions of sin. Because Jesus died on the cross for us doesn’t mean we can now do what we want because He died for us on the cross. It is our responsibility to walk in Love, which means we must choose  to walk like Jesus and not just talk like Him. Jesus must be seen in our words, thoughts and daily actions. I’ve read an article of  teenagers , who chose  to wear a promise ring(promise that they will abstain from sex).

In there actions they don’t keep that promise, still having sex no matter what they promised. We have twisted Gods will and standard so that it will suite us. If you tell someone what God really thinks of divorce they will immediately condemn you, or if you tell someone that you must stay pure before marriage striving to be Holy, most “Christians” will laugh in your face. Even if you watch a movie and they misuse Gods name what will you do? Will you stay and watch it or will you stop the DVD and be obedient to your Lord.It cost something to learn about Christ but it cost a lot to live like Christ. God is your father and He expects you to live in obedience to His word.

Gods standard is the only standard and really the only gateway to true happiness and true life. We must get out of the mindset of;” How far can I go and still be called a Christian”. Have we gone blind?God's commands are designed to guide you to life's very best. You will not obey Him, if you do not believe Him and trust Him. You cannot believe Him if you do not love Him. You cannot love Him unless you know Him. Henry BlackabyCHURCH lets stand for Gods standards to come back to the Church, then only will the world once again look at us for Hope, lets get clean and Holy, Jesus said with His own words that He is Holy so we must be Holy too.

Most Christians just try to squeeze their way through the narrow gate to get to the other side, but what we forget is that the road on the other side is also narrow and we must keep walking on it.Matthew 7:14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  I dare you to be like King Josiah ,   stop at nothing to bring back Gods standards and to stand for God and His Holiness, we want to experience the Kingdom but we don’t want to do what needs to be done.

Let’s Pray Together:

Father, I come boldly before Your throne of grace that I may obtain help in this time of need in my life. Father, I thank you that your word says that You will give me a new heart and put a new spirit within me. You will take away my stony heart and give me a heart of flesh. You will put Your Spirit within me and cause me to walk in Your statutes, and heed your ordinances and do them.Father God, I yield my body, soul and spirit to you today to do your work.

I offer my members as instruments for righteousness and not for sin. God fill me with your Spirit. Cleanse my soul of sin for your calling is high and lofty And now, Lord I ask that you would protect what is so great and beautiful. Lift up what is glorious so that hope, joy and love can again touch our miserable hearts. Let me join this race to run for your glory and nothing else. Lead me, Lord, with your precious example into a constant and flowing river of giving acts and words toward my spouse and loved ones.

May I be pure, loyal and responsible. And may the glorious love of God be revealed on earth in my actions and through my love for my spouse. Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending Jesus to die for me, so that I have peace with you and can boldly come to your throne for help.  Please forgive me for the times that I have doubted you.  I renew my trust in you and ask you to remind me of the truth concerning any lies that I have believed or am tempted to believe from this point forward.  As I stand in faith against the enemy, please strengthen me so that I will not waver.  You are my anchor, rock and fortress.  Thank you, Father!  I praise your name now and forever.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, and in Your righteousness.(Ps 143:1)

By the grace and blood of Christ, God's only Son,

I pray.Amen
