Devotional done by Ess-Jee from

"Most people, if they had really learned to look into their own hearts, would know that they do want, and want acutely, something that cannot be had in this world. There are all sorts of things in this world that offer to give it to you, but they never quite keep their promise. C.S. Lewis on Hope, Desire and Longing

Can I be changed? Can God change my Spouse and me? What about my family members? Can God save them, even if they don’t want to know anything about Christ or His church?

Yes, the Lord can! If you start believing in the Lord’s word, praying and fasting, the Lord can change anyone. Many times we will point the finger to others, telling the Lord that they must first change. We also tend to condemn people, pointing fingers at their faults. What about us, are we so perfect?

When I really started praying for my loved ones, the Lord showed me that I had to change first before He could start the change in them. At first I couldn’t believe it. What? Me, Lord? After the Holy Spirit started working with me, I started realizing that there were many loose ends on my side. Small issues for me at my standard, but big issues in my Lord’s eyes. I repented of my stubborn heart and asked the Lord to please continue working His changes in me.

To be transformed by the Holy Spirit isn’t an easy process. Our flesh hates it. All we can do in this process is to lay down all our selfish desires and trade our will for God’s will.

When we are ready to have God remove all of our defects, our decision is welcomed by a loving God. He accepts us as we are, with nothing hidden from his all-seeing eyes. Baptism symbolizes the burial of our old life and a resurrection to a new one. He will continue his transforming work until every defect is wiped away. (New Life Ministries)

Are you willing to take God’s hand, and let Him lead you through this process of transformation? I have heard many testimonies of, and even witnessed marriages that were restored. One spouse surrendered everything to God and let Him do the work. The Lord changed this person first as to be a witness to the other of God’s love. We serve such an Awesome God, all He wants is for us to be happy and to lead the life He wants for us. All we have to do is to lay down our pride, own plans and agendas.

"But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his  unfailing love, "Psalm 33:18

If one spouse just lets go and gives the reigns to God, the restoration of any relationship can take place. How I see it, is that following the Law of the Word gives one some comfort and acknowledgement. Here one can depend on own knowledge and understanding and by applying it to life. But to trust the Lord in love for a certain outcome is risky. Why? Because most of the time when trusting the Lord completely, you have no guarantees in the physical. All you have is the Word of God and His promises.

So what is hope really then?

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. "Jeremiah 17:7 New International Version

For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Rom 8:24-25 (NIV)

We work hard and suffer much in order that people will believe... for our hope is in the living God who died for all, and particularly for those who have accepted his salvation 1 Tim 4:10 (LB)

Are you ready to let Go and let God? If you are, go to a mirror and say this following list from T.D Jakes out loud.

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying; take your hands off it, God is doing a new thing.

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to...

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains...

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge...

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction...

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents...

If you have a bad attitude...

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship.......

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves...

If you're feeling depressed and stressed...

Get Right or Get Left, think about it, and then...

Leave it in God’s hands and pray.
