Why is marriage so hard?

Do you ever ask yourself this question? You met your sweetheart and everything was just fine before marriage. As soon as you got married everything changed. Your superhero is now more like a zero and your sweetheart is like a puzzle you don’t have a clue where even to start.

 With all the pressures of this world no wonder we don’t really understand what love is all about. Hollywood movies super blast the illusion that love is a physical attraction and a feeling. I watched a movie this week and wondered how a love like that could be fulfilling. No wonder there is so much divorce and broken relationships, people don’t understand what true love is like. Every person on this earth has a deep longing for a deeper fulfilling love.

To understand what true love is really all about we must go some 2000 years back. A man lived a perfect life, not for Himself but for us. He sacrificed Himself so that we can live in His fullness today. Love is not about feelings, or how much money I have or how good-looking I am or what I do. Love is a choice and a sacrifice, laying down your life for another. Jesus is the key to this thing we call life. If you allow Him to penetrate your life He will change and transform you first and then He will change your beloved. While I may be facing impossible circumstances I still believe in our all powerful God and King. He came and showed us what could be done if we just believe.

Will you dare to believe that your marriage can be restored to a life giving relationship, giving others hope that marriage can be fun and fulfilling. There are so many marriages without Love. Tap into that life giving water and your marriage will grow to be all the Lord meant it to be, not a constant frustration. Let the designer give His blueprint for your marriage.

Here is what the Bible says Love is all about. Not the world’s idea of love but God’s:

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. – 1 John 4:9-11

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. - Proverbs 17:17

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:12-13

'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD. - Leviticus 19:18

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. – Proverbs 10:12
