Chapter 2 – Memory work




"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8)


To renew ones memory, one must start to use scriptures.


Remember old thoughts or habits were form because of some kind of information what entered your heart, it entered your heart over a period of time or with repetion. To renew ones thoughts, one must deliberately take control over it. It is more less the same how men, got to train there eyes not to look at anything un Godly. They call this bouncing of eyes, were one if you sense a pleasurable image coming your way , a man will train his mind and eyes to bounce of away from that image, by looking another way or close his eyes till that image passes.


To guard your heart you must also have some kind of defence mechanicians. For example; when a lie tries to enter your heart, one must first identify the lie and discern between good and evil. This is where your Scripture Memory work comes in. Remember the part in the bible where the enemy satan tempted Jesus in the dessert.  Jesus knew the scripture by heart. Every time the enemy will try to tempt Jesus, The Lord will say ‘ satan its written’ and the enemy must flea.


In Hebrews 4:12 it is written that the word of God is like a double edge sword that cut through anything. On numerous occasions in the bible it is mentioned that the word of God is like a sword. OK, how does one start with scripture memory work?


You can start of by choosing any three scriptures, and then adding one or two scriptures each week. Write them down, and start to repeat them in your mind, over and over and over. Try to this purposefully, doing this during the day and night. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-- put it into practice.


And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

My challenge to you is to make scripture memorization a part of your life and to be determined to renew your mind, so that you can be Christ minded. After a few days from doing this you will sense that this scriptures are evaporating all the wrong thoughts in your heart and mind. Please remember to always ask the Holy Spirit to help you in this process. Keep on doing this each and every day of the week, over a period of time you will be so filled with the word of God that it will start to become a way of life for you. God’s word will start to penetrate your conscience and your thought reference; it will increase your faith and at the end will let your Hope grow in the Lord and His promises to you.


Practical Exercise – Phase Two


Here some example scriptures, that can give you a kick start in you memory work.

Ephesians 4:23-24

I am renewed in the spirit of my mind and I put on the new self, which in the likeness of God, has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.


II Timothy 1:7

Father, I thank you that I do not have a spirit of fear, but I have a spirit of power, a spirit of love and a spirit of a sound, strong, firm, safe, stable and disciplined mind which produces Godly thoughts.


I Corinthians 13:7

I set my mind to believe, bear, hope and endure all things.


Memory Tips

  1. Try to read the scriptures before you go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning.
  2. They say that ones mind is like a computer; with what you go to sleep with, you wake up with the next morning. Also with what you start your day with will 90% determine how your attitude towards your day will be, negative or positive.
  3. Read the scripture’s to yourself out loud and if possible look your self in the mirror if you do this exercises.
  4. Try to repeat the words to yourself over and over.
  5. Try to use different colours in your scriptures (like above).

Here is some more examples you can use;

  • I confess I’m blessed.
  • I confess I’m healed.
  • I confess I have wisdom.
  • I confess I’m happy.
  • I confess I have the money I need.
  • I confess I have the job I need.
  • I confess I’m a soul winner.
  • I confess I have the right answer in every situation.
  • I confess I’m the head and not the tail.
  • I confess I will not give up.
  • I will not let go of my confession of faith.
  • I will not be discouraged when I don’t see results. Therefore I refuse to throw away my confidence.
  • I will not change my confession.
  • My love will not grow cold.
  • I abide in love.
  • I remain in love, I confess my marriage is healed and my spouse is saved.

Reprogram to be Christ Like Minded


I have the mind of Christ; therefore I can know the thoughts of my Lord that He may instruct me.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.


In the Bible the Lord teaches us that we must be Christ minded and be transformed by the renewing of our minds. But how does one do it. In my own personal experience, I have prayed to the Lord to help me and to deliver me from any old fears or triggers what was left in my thoughts by the enemy. But the Lord showed me He will do His part but, it is my responsibility to learn my mind to take captive every evil thought what is not from Him.


 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”


So I have decided to help you in some practical ways to get rid of all that old hurtful and depressing thoughts, and replace that with the Lords thoughts of goodness and grace. For one to become like Christ one must start to think like Christ.


"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16


Chapter 1 – How do One Reprogram one self.


From birth, the moment when you open your eyes, the programming starts. You are like a little sponge that absorbs everything and anything. All the information comes to you from three different sources.

 Your eyes – Everything that comes through your eyes have an immediate effect on your heart. Thats why television got so big impact on our society. No wonder the words says; that guard your heart with all diligence because it’s the wellspring of life.

 Your ears – Music is a powerful weapon to fill yourself. Music is directly connected with your emotions; no wonder the enemy uses this to his advantage. Music comes in diffrent forms and has an effect on your brain. We get Alpha ,Beta , Theta and delta waves.

Alpha waves - range between 7-12 HZ


In the Alpha state one becomes aware of the "inner bodily sensations".
Generally there is a heightened feeling of well being.
This non-focused body awareness is the key that unlocks the body-mind unlimited capability to heal itself! In this state we also begin to access the wealth of creativity that lies potent in our non-focused awareness.
The Alpha waves of the brain can also be compared to the window frequency known as the Schuman Resonance, which is the resonant frequency of the earth's electromagnetic field


Beta waves - range between 13-40 HZ



The Beta state is associated with heightened mental activity, peak concentration, and visual acuity. Beta activity is "fast" activity and can often be associated with states of anxiety.
Stimulating music has been found to produce beta waves, which prepare you for quick response to external events.

Theta waves - range between 4-7 HZ


Theta waves can accompany feelings of emotional stress, but they can also be a sign of deep meditation.
Theta waves are furthermore produced in periods of REM dream sleep.

Delta waves - range between 0-4 HZ


Delta waves only occur during periods of deep sleep.
The "Alpha healing-state" will often spontaneously improve the low frequency deep sleep which triggers the release of Growth Hormone beneficial for healing and regeneration



.Programmed from passed experiences, or triggers; This could be anything from watching porn or any past experience have formed a memory neuron in your mind and every time you see something similar or experience something, your brain searches that cabinet and bring that in front of your thoughts. The enemy usually use this to try to torment you over and over again.

Thats why it’s so important for us to learn our minds to dwell only what is good honourable and worthy to praise. To set our minds on the things above and not on the things on earth. The Key in Re Programming your thoughts are in repetition and to use most of your communication sources. For example; your eyes, ears and mouth. That is why porn is so effective; its very visual and its make use of all communication resources. The most important aspect in Re Programming your mind is to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you with this. To be successful to develop a mind of Christ, you will need patience and diligences. The process never ends and will go on until we meet Christ face to face. The goal is for you to train your brain to distinguish between good and bad and to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.


Our mission is to form new neuron membranes that inturn will start to change our way of thinking. Like that old saying goes; the one you feed will be strong. It’s more less the same with the spirit versus our flesh. The more we start to focus our heart and mind on Jesus, the less our flesh will have control over us. We will start to fulfil the desires of the spirit and not the flesh. We will be sprit minded, that great’s life and not carnal that ends in death. The more we let the word dwell in our hearts, the more our faith will grow in the Lord and the more Hope we will have, because we start to abide in Jesus and His love and not the world and his hatred.


John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.... 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you."


In short the process can be summed up in these four points;

  • Your thoughts determine your words.
  • Your words determine your actions.
  • Your actions determine your behaviour.
  • Your behaviour determines your Character.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7


Practical Exercise – Phase One


This exercise is easy. We combined music and Scripture and pictures in our mini movie.


Instructions to you;


When you start to watch the clip, read out load the scriptures and dance and do whatever.



Very Important :Do this for at least one week, when you awake in the morning and just before you go to sleep in the evenings.

Pride is perhaps the most dangerous of all sin.  No person is immune from an infection of pride.  Pride is what made Lucifer Satan.   It turns God's hand against us and invites ruin on our lives.  It can gain a foothold in our lives without us even realizing it.  

Pride self-test:  Please take this test before proceeding:

  • Do you consider yourself to be better than other people?
  • Do you refrain from doing things that would be embarrassing?
  • Do you have difficulty raising your hands in worship to God?
  • Do you let what others may think about you hold you back from doing things?
  • Do you have trouble admitting when you are wrong?
  • Do you consider yourself to always be right?
  • Do you get angry when someone doesn't agree with you?
  • Do you look down on others because of their race, gender, creed, education, position, personal hygiene or appearance?
  • Do you find yourself habitually interrupting people in conversations to give your comments?
  • Do you enjoy being the center of attention at parties?
  • Do you enjoy talking about yourself in front of others?
  • Do you find it hard to be impressed with what other people have done?
  • Do you feel that you have an answer for everything?
  • Do you frequently respond to other people's stories with "I know," or "that's nothing"?
  • Do you strive to impress others with your wealth, your possessions, how you drive, body appearance, athletic ability, professional ability, or humor?
  • Do you find yourself criticizing others?
  • Do arrogant people really annoy you?
  • Do you like to always be first or at least near the front of the line?
  • Is it important to you to always win?
  • Do you take pride in being a humble person?

If the answer to the any of the above questions was "yes," we encourage you to read on. 

Pride is sin:  Proverbs makes it clear that pride is sin:  "Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin" (Proverbs 21:4 NIV).  "The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. (Proverbs 16:5 NIV).  (see also Proverbs 6:16-18)

What pride does to us:

  • Pride inhibits Christian harmony (Romans 12:16)
  • Corrupts our ability to show true love ( Love is not proud -1 Corinthians 13:4)
  • Deceives us:  "The pride of your heart has deceived you.." Obadiah 1:3 NIV
  • Causes us to forget God:   "then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God" Deuteronomy 8:14 NIV (also Psalm 10:4)
  • Hardens our hearts: "But Hezekiah's heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him"  2 Chronicles 32:25 NIV
  • Blocks prayers, healing and forgiveness (Psalm 18:27)
  • Keeps God distant :  "For though the LORD is exalted, Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar"   (Psalm 138:6 NASB).
  • Brings ruin on our lives:  "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall" Proverbs 16:18 NIV (also Proverbs 15:25, Zephaniah 3:10-12, Leviticus 26:19, Daniel 5:20, Job 20:5-7)

Sources of Pride

Dealing with Pride:  If you have sinned by pride in your life, we encourage you to confess and repent from it.  Here are suggested prayers to confess and repent of pride:

  • Confess:  "Father God, I confess that I have been prideful in these specific ways: ……(name them all).   I see my pride as sin and I ask your forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ.   Thank you, Lord, for this forgiveness I have in Jesus Christ." 
  • Repent:  Repenting from our sin is just as important as confessing it (Luke 13:3).   Repentance means to turn from our sin and commit our way to living for God.  
    "Father God, I turn from my pride now, and I surrender every area of my life that has been a source of pride: ....(name them all).   I lay them all down before your throne, and commit myself to serving You in humility.  I ask for opportunities each day to put on humility.  I renounce any evil spirits I have allowed in through my pride and command you in the name of Jesus Christ to depart from me and trouble me no more.  I close the door to pride,  bar it with the cross of Christ and seal it with the blood of Christ, Amen."

Put on humility:  Humility reverses the effects of pride.  When we put on humility, we gain God's favor and assistance in the battles we face.  Humility can even change God's mind.  King Josiah's humility postponed God's judgment on Israel (Chronicles 34:27).   Humility combined with prayer and repentance opens the doors to forgiveness and healing (2 Chronicles 7:14).   For other verses on humility see 1 Peter 5:5-6, Isaiah 2:12, Psalm 18:27, Psalm 37:11, Matthew 5:5.  Here are some ways to put on humility each day:

  • Surrender control of our lives to God
  • Follow Jesus and make him master of our lives (Philippians 2:5-8)
  • Consider others better than ourselves  (Philippians 2:2-4)
  • Be quick to listen and slow to speak (James 1:9)
  • Spend time praising and worshiping God 


Humility is something we must put on daily as we submit ourselves to God.  It will help us greatly when we resist the devil (James 4:7).  Part of the submitting process involves being "clothed with humility."  Peter wrote, "All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." (1 Peter 5:5-6 NIV)   Humility wins us God's favor, grace and restoration.  

Pride sets a person apart from the rest of the pack.  In the mind of the proud, he is better than those around him, standing head and shoulders above the rest. He is an easy target for the enemy to find, since God’s favor no longer shields him (Psalm 5:12).  If his pride kept him from sharing his needs with his fellow Christians, he will lack prayer cover.  If his pride kept him from asking God for help with his fears, he is vulnerable to stress and worry.  

When we clothe ourself with humility, standing firm in his faith in Jesus Christ, we will be able to successfully resist the devil.  God joins us in the fight and strengthens us.   Humility combined with prayer and repentance opens the doors to forgiveness and healing (2 Chronicles 7:14).   Here are some ways to put on humility each day:

As you do these things, God will help you discover what areas of your life still need to come under Jesus Christ’s authority.  God will make you strong, firm and steadfast, and the devil will have to flee from you!
