My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.

Psalms 73:26

What made Hosea so special? What made him love his wife who hated him so much, what enable him to love his wife without getting anything in return? In the past weeks we focused a lot on Gomer (the prodigal), today I’m going to put our focus a bit on Hosea and see what was his make up, what was his recipe for success.

Let’s look at his background. Hosea”s name means deliverance; he lived probably in Israel, perhaps Samaria. He was the son of Beeri; husband of Gomer, a prostitute; father of two sons, Jezreel and Lo-Ammi, and a daughter, Lo-Ruhamah. Occupation Prophet c 755 – 710 Bc , Best known as the principle prophet to Israel in the years just prior to its fall to Assyria (c. 722 B.C.).

Through his marriage and prophetic message, Hosea presents a vivid picture of the steadfast love of GOD for His people. Because they have sinned and broken the covenant, GOD's people deserve His certain judgment. But because of His undying love for them, His mercy and loving kindness will prevail: Many people believe the Old Testament portrays GOD's wrath, while the New Testament pictures his love. But the Book of Hosea includes tender expressions of deep love among this prophet's descriptions of judgment. Hosea ranks with Deuteronomy and the Gospel of John as major biblical treatises on the love of GOD. This love is not mere sentiment; it is rooted in compassion and bound in holiness. GOD's love makes demands, but it is also willing to forgive.

The following lessons clearly stand of Hosea:

·        He was a normal man just like me and you.

·        He was obedient to the Lord.

·        He sacrificed his life for God and His wife.

·        He didn’t let people or family manipulate him or change his view of his circumstances.

·        He totally and completely trusted God.

·        Like Hosea, all believers are called to demonstrate through their actions and attitudes, the love of GOD in Christ to a world that searches blindly for signs of an authentic love.

·        He allowed God to change him into the man of God and the Husband for his wife he was destined to be.

·        Hosea's most powerful sermon emerged from his relationship with his wife. His home and family were the source of the power of his preaching.

·        Hosea was not special, he had learned that all he must do is to put his trust in God and know that he know that the Lord will complete what He had started in Him.

Jeremiah 17:7

My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me.

Phil 1:6

"For I am sure that He who started this good work in you will carry it through until it is finished on the day of Christ Jesus.

Micah 6:8

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

John 4:7-8

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

So Hosea secret is that he knew His Lord , he knew he could trust God with anything , he knew that God will never forsake him or leave him, the Lord will not rest until his promise to you is fulfilled.

Proverbs 30:5

Every word of God is purified; he is like a shield for those who take refuge in him.

So dear reader will you be bold enough to start living by faith and not by sight, will you start living on Gods promises alone and not on what you see in the natural. In the world were living in at the moment people are tired of hearing the good news , they are tired hearing all this wonderful things and not experiencing the living God. Threw Jesus words and actions He proved to them that He was not from this world , His words and actions proved to the nations that the God He served was a living God. Its time that people see our Lord again , not only in our words but in our actions. Let’s start today to strive to be Christ like each and every day.

 Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

The Book of Hosea teaches two relevant lessons about the Holy Spirit: It's important to depend on the presence of the Spirit, and when He is absent, a great vacancy is experienced in one's life. On two occasions, Hosea uses the phrase "spirit of fornication" (4:12; 5:4), and speaks of the consequences of being filled with an evil spirit. Like Paul in Ephesians, Hosea relates a spirit of that nature with wine, whose effects enslave human beings. This spirit of fornication also leads people on false paths and toward a false worship, in contrast with the Holy Spirit who guides us to the ways of truth and true worship (4:11-13; Eph. 5:17-21). John remembers Jesus' words about the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who will give testimony of Christ; on the other hand, the spirit of fornication takes people away from the knowledge of GOD (5:4; John 15:26).

Hosea's love for his wayward wife reminds us that the principal proof of the Spirit is love (Gal. 5:22). Because the love of GOD has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which was given us (Rom. 5:5). Nothing in this world can stand against the Love of God ,His love can melt away any strife or hatred. Will you be Bold enough to Love like Christ loved? True love gives birth to great hopes.
