No Guarantees

Devotional done by Ess-Jee from

In this life we’re living, one knows that in an instant your life can be changed. One day you can have everything you always wanted. The next morning you could be stripped naked and have nothing. The other way around is also true, you can pray for years on end for a breakthrough and suddenly one morning all your prayers are answered.

In life there are no guarantees, especially in this world we live in. I have learned that one must be content with every situation we find ourselves in. The only guarantee we have is the Word of God and His faithfulness towards us. Many answers we’re looking for is in His love. When we’re in a bad place in our lives we tend to look to people for answers and that can be disastrous. The Lord has shown me again this week that we must first seek Him for all our questions we may have, and given time He will answer us.

The sad thing is that most of the body of Christ are focused on their own “Kingdoms”, they forget about our Lord Jesus’ Kingdom. In a church the speaker said there are over 40,000 denominations, and every single one claimed that they have the truth. The shocking thing is that this only leads to strife among each other. No wonder the body of Christ looks the way it is at the moment. We must always put our expectations in Christ, and not in preachers or ministries or in a denomination.

Let the Lord lead you in everything. I’m not saying going to Church is bad; all I’m saying is to always test the word you’re receiving. I think the day and age we’re living in is the most deceitful time of all. If we don’t touch base with our Lord EVERYDAY, one will lose focus. You can't trust someone else to do your thinking and studying for you.  You have a personal responsibility to God to earnestly seek the truth, and not to ignore God if you sense He's calling you back to the Bible to find His truths there.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.Galatians 1:6-12

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4:1

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24

For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2Peter 2:1

There’s only one way and that is God’s truths and standards. We as a church had become so deceived and lukewarm, that we can’t identify what is evil or good anymore. If one gets to a point as in Jesus’ terms ”really live like Christ”, most Christians think you are crazy or you’re going too far now. To be content in every situation is to trust Jesus completely. This means to part from the world and its ways, and to truly depend on God. Love is an action word, to Love Jesus is more than lip service. It means that you strive to get as far away from the sin line as possible.

If you love someone, you will try to do things that please them. Our Lord Jesus gave himself to us, freely. Grace of God is a gift; all we must do is to receive it. It doesn’t matter what your circumstances are like. The Lord is using our trials and tribulations to prepare us for His everlasting Kingdom in Heaven and the new coming earth. Jesus’ Love is the answer, and will always find a way.

So dear Stander, the Lord chose you to stand for someone else’s eternal destiny. Now is the time to build on God for you and your wayward spouse, and not yourself. When I feel weary and alone I remind myself that what I’m standing for is much more than just the return of my wife. This is about saving my loved one’s soul and growing in my Lord.

Be of good faith and know that sorrow may last for the night, but the Lord’s joy comes in the morning.
