Angel the Meerkat

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Genesis 2:19

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof

On a day I went on a game drive in the karo , the sun was shinning and the birds was humming, it was a perfect summer day in the karo .As we drove threw the karo national park we saw lots of wild; eagles , ostriches , kudus etc. But what caught our attention was a small meerkat that appeared out of nowhere in front of the game ranger’s truck. The meerkat lied there in the middle of the road not moving a muscle. The ranger went closer to get her out of the way but she surprised him, she went to him and started purring against his leg and shoes.

It seemed like the meerkat new humans and knew about cars. Every time the ranger tried to pull away with his truck the meerkat would run in front of the truck. It seems that the meerkat was asking us to take her with and not to leave her in the wild. At the end the ranger gave in and he picked her up and placed her beside him in the truck.

As we drove onwards, the ranger told us that he remembered that so nine months ago the SPCA brought Angel (The meerkat) to them to look after her because they didn’t have a license to keep her. He also said that on one long weekend Angel just disappeared. Everybody in the Park heart was broken and they looked everywhere for her but she was nowhere to be found.

Could you believe it , nine months later she reappeared plus minus twenty kilometres from were she started and were she was reported missing. Twenty kilometres for a small meerkat is a long long way to travel away from home. To be nine months in the wild for a meerkat who knew nothing about the wild and still surviving is a miracle.

Zechariah 8:8

I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God."

One of the other passengers on the truck made a yoke by saying that she thinks that Angel was tired of the wild and she wanted to go home, were she was better of than she was in the wild. This whole experience with Angel took me back to some bible stories were people got deceived by believing that being away from God and their families is better than were they are now. For example; the story of Hosea and Gomer, The prodigal son in Luke, Jonah running away from his responsibilities, Elijah hiding from Jezebel in the cave, Adam and Eve etc. Most of these bible Heroes got lost in the wild and before they could help them self’s they were many miles away from home, and heading full steam into the wrong direction.

Proverbs 27:8

Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who strays from his home

I know about a lot of prodigal children of the Lord who has got deceived by the enemy’s lies and went unknowing into the pigpen of life. But like angel , because the Lord never give up on us , He will always have a x press bus ready to take them back home if they only repent and turn their focus back to Him and there waiting families. Pray in a agreement with me that many prodigals just like Angel will stop sinning, turn there eyes back to Jesus and then Jesus will lead them back home , out of the wild into the loving arms of their father, mother or husband, wife.

Jeremiah 3:17

At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne of the LORD, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the LORD. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.

Ezekiel 11:20

Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be there God
